Would you like more peace in your life? Then, this is the post for you. This post comes from our weekly newsletter – Monday Morning Reset – where we Get Rooted in Christ through our Core 4 – 1 Lesson, 1 Scripture, 1 Affirmation & 1 Question.
This is the final post in our series “CHRISTLIKE: Living Set Apart in Modern Times.” Last time, we talked about how to live faithful in a fickle generation; if you missed it, you can catch it here.
📑 1 Lesson to Shape Our Mindset
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had those mornings where you open the news or scroll social media and instantly feel your stomach drop. It’s just… a lot. Another tragedy or injustice, reminding us that the world is loud, divided, and unpredictable.
But it’s strange, right? We have more information than ever, yet it’s made us more anxious than ever too. We wake up to chaos before we’ve even had coffee, we scroll through heartbreak before we pray, and before we realize it, our peace has been quietly replaced by fear, frustration, or a sense of helplessness.
Know that the enemy loves this – he doesn’t always need to destroy our faith; sometimes he just needs to keep us distracted, tense, and exhausted enough that we stop resting in God’s presence.
But the beautiful thing is that we were never meant to carry the weight of the world because Jesus already did that.
When Jesus walked the earth, He was surrounded by injustice, oppression, and uncertainty too. The Roman Empire ruled through fear and people were desperate for hope. But Jesus moved with unshakable calm, withdrawing often to pray and speaking peace into storms – literal and emotional ones. He didn’t ignore the pain of the world, but neither did He let it define His heart posture.
That’s what it looks like to live Christlike in a culture of anxiety – not pretending things aren’t hard or tuning out what’s happening, but learning to stay centered in Him while the world spins around you.
3 Gentle Practices to Find Peace
- Begin with quiet before the noise.
Before the headlines, before the notifications, before your mind starts running, take a few minutes to be still with God. Let His voice set the tone for your day, not the chaos of the world. Even five quiet minutes can make a huge difference in how you carry peace through the rest of your morning. - Trade worry for gratitude.
When your heart starts racing after reading or hearing something heavy, pause. Name one thing you’re thankful for; say it out loud if you can. Gratitude doesn’t ignore what’s wrong, it reminds your soul of what’s still right. It shifts your focus from fear to faith and opens your heart to calm again. - Pray when the weight feels too much.
When it all just feels like too much, whisper a simple prayer: “Lord, remind me that You’re still here. Still good. Still working.” You don’t need fancy words, just honesty. God’s peace meets you right there, in the middle of the mess, and starts to steady what’s been shaking.
Let’s remember that we don’t have to numb out or ignore what’s happening. We can be informed and still be anchored, we can care deeply and still sleep peacefully, because our hope isn’t in the headlines – it’s in Him.
📖 1 Scripture to Ground Our Spirit
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
This verse is a beautiful reminder that peace isn’t passive. When we bring our worries to Him, in prayer and with gratitude, God actively guards our hearts. Even when the world feels overwhelming, His calm covers us.
💬 1 Affirmation to Speak Life
“I don’t have to carry the chaos of the world. I anchor my mind in God’s peace and trust that He’s still in control.”
Say this when your thoughts start to spiral or your heart feels heavy. Let it be your reminder that peace isn’t something you fight for – it’s something you rest in.
❓1 Question to Reflect & Reset
I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
“What’s been weighing on your heart this week – the thing that’s quietly stealing your peace?”
Let’s take a few minutes to talk to God about it honestly. Maybe write it down, pray about it or just talk to Him like you would a friend. It’s amazing how peace starts to rise when we stop trying to carry everything alone.
So as we head into this week, let’s take a breath and remember: we don’t have to fix the world, we just have to stay close to the One who already has.
I pray you have a wonderful week and I’ll see you next Monday as we start a brand new series THE NAMES OF GOD: Discovering Who He Is. I can’t wait to start this with you!
