✨1 Affirmation to speak life
✨1 Question to reflect and reset
In our last post, we talked about how to love people when it’s difficult. That was a special message. If you missed it, you can catch it here.
📑 1 Lesson: When You're Feeling the Blues
Have you ever had a day where sadness sneaks in quietly? Or you just felt blah for no clear reason – like you’re just kind of… off? 🖐
Not necessarily in a deep crisis, but also not your usual self. You wake up, and the weight is already there feeling like sadness, overwhelm or maybe just numbness.
And you go through the motions, making breakfast, answering emails, folding laundry, but inside, something feels heavy.
We all get like that sometimes, and when we do, it’s so easy to default to distractions: scroll our phones, binge a show, reorganize the fridge, anything to not feel what we’re feeling. Or maybe we try to power through it with a to-do list and a fake smile.
But here’s the thing – none of that truly helps the blues go away. It just buries them for later.
What if those low moments are actually your soul whispering, “Hey… I need something deeper” – not more noise, not more hustle, but truth, comfort and a real connection with God.
Because underneath the sadness or irritability or fog, there’s often a quiet spiritual need for peace, clarity and hope. And the truth is, your Bible isn’t just for the “spiritual” times when you feel put-together. It’s for the messy, moody, tearful moments too. In fact, it’s especially for these moments.
This week, when the blues start creeping in, even if it’s just a quiet weight on your chest, try this: instead of avoiding the feeling, open your Bible. If it’s even just for five minutes and maybe flip to Psalms where David is all in his feelings. Or sit with Jesus in Matthew where He meets people in their weariness. Let the Word meet you where you are, no pressure or expectations, just show up. The Bible doesn’t just give answers, it holds space for your emotions and reminds you who you are and who God is.
Remember, you don’t have to feel holy to be held by God. He meets you in your real, raw, everyday emotions. One verse can anchor your whole day, so don’t wait until you “feel better” to spend time with Him. Let His truth be the thing that gently makes you feel better.
If you’re feeling low today, you’re not broken. You’re human. And God’s Word is the safest place to land.
📖 1 Scripture
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
You don’t have to hide how you feel from God. He already knows and He draws closer to you in the moments you feel low. His presence doesn’t require perfection, just honesty.
💬 1 Affirmation
“Even when I feel low, I am not alone. God is near, and His Word comforts me.”
Speak this over yourself when the blues start to settle in. Write it down, repeat it aloud to let it ground you in truth.
❓ 1 Question for You
I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
Where do you usually turn when you’re feeling low and is it truly filling you?
Take a moment to pause and gently check in with your heart. Grab a journal or simply sit with this question in prayer. Ask God to meet you right there where you are.
You’re not broken for feeling blue. You’re human and you are deeply loved. Whatever this week holds, remember: you don’t have to wait to feel “better” to come to God – He will meet you right where you are. Let His Word be your quiet place to land, especially when your heart feels heavy. You’re not walking through this week alone. 💛
Let’s stay rooted in Christ my friend,
