Stepping Into God’s Purpose With Confidence & Strength

YOU ARE CALLED AND EQUIPPED

Have you ever felt like God might be asking something of you… but you quietly thought, I’m not the right person for that? Like maybe someone stronger, more confident, or more qualified would do a better job?

A lot of us carry that feeling. We look at our weaknesses, our doubts, or the areas where we feel unprepared and assume we must not be ready yet. But the truth is this: God doesn’t wait for us to feel equipped before He calls us – He calls us and then equips us.

Let’s start with a few simple identity reminders.
In Christ, we are called. We are chosen. We are equipped. We are not accidental or overlooked. God doesn’t call people randomly and then leave them to figure it out alone. When He calls us, He also gives us what we need.

But what does it actually mean to be called? Well, it doesn’t mean we have a huge, dramatic mission. Most of the time it’s when God invites us to live life with Him and take part in what He is doing. It’s not about being perfect or having everything figured out. It’s about walking with Him and responding to what He places in front of us – loving people, growing in faith, and choosing obedience in everyday moments.

And being equipped means we don’t have to rely only on our own strength because God supplies what we lack. He works through our abilities and even our weaknesses, so we don’t have to be extraordinary on our own – we just have to be willing.

Now, regarding stepping into God’s Purpose with Confidence & Strength, let’s look at what the world says about purpose. It says we should feel ready first, that we need more confidence, more skill and more experience before stepping into something meaningful. It says we should wait until we’re strong enough.

But what is God’s way? God often calls ordinary people who feel unsure, people who feel weak or that they don’t have enough. Why? Because His strength shows up in those very places.

And our personal reflection can often reveal that this is where we can get stuck. We can look at what God might be asking of us – being patient with our kids, loving someone difficult, sharing our faith, stepping into a new opportunity – and we quietly think, I’m not the person for that. You see, we tend to focus on our limitations instead of God’s power.

The problem is that when we believe we aren’t equipped, we start holding back. We hesitate, shrink and often delay obedience because we’re waiting for confidence to magically appear.

But the Bible tells a very different story. It reminds us that God doesn’t call the equipped – He equips the called. Our weakness doesn’t disqualify us, it becomes a place where His power and strength shines the most. He isn’t asking us to carry the mission alone. He’s inviting us to walk with Him.

So let’s remember that we don’t have to have everything figured out, we just need to take the next step with God beside us because if He called us, He will equip us.

This week, let’s focus on obedience, not outcomes.

Instead of asking, “What if I fail?” ask, “What is the next faithful step God is inviting me to take?”

It might be something small like showing kindness, having a hard conversation, praying for someone, or stepping into a new opportunity. Take that step and trust that God will meet you there with the strength you need.

Love this sooo much!!! Yes it’s not always a grandiose thing but are we taking the next step that He’s called us too AND sometimes that looks like ministering to the people that are right around us. Who is in my sphere of influence that I can be a blessing to?

I love this post so much!!!! We can’t keep waiting till we “feel” equipped. Sometimes we have to just take a small step in faith.
Thank you for this article!!

Yes Tara, you said it perfectly. I struggled with that for a long time - thinking that I need to be prepared before I start what God has called me to do. Even doing this newsletter is a stretch. But God gives us His strength to do His work. Thank you for the comment 😊.
