This week, I’m so excited to present our new series “ROOTED IDENTITY: Who God says I am.” Over the next 8 weeks, we’ll discover our true worth and identity in God’s eyes, not the world’s. Let’s get started with week 1.

This post comes from our weekly newsletter – Monday Morning Resetwhere we Get Rooted in Christ through our Core 4 – 1 Lesson, 1 Scripture, 1 Affirmation & 1 Question.

📑 1 Lesson to Shape Our Mindset

Before we get started, let’s say this aloud with meaning and intention: “I am chosen and intentionally made in God’s image. I am not a mistake or an afterthought. I was created with purpose, designed on purpose, and my worth is inherent because it comes from God Himself”.

Those are wonderful words that describe our true identity in Christ. But if we’re honest, the world often sends a very different message – one that might sound like: you’re only worth what you achieve or you need to perform, succeed, or look a certain way to matter or keep hustling and keep proving yourself.

And social media is of no help, as it can make us feel behind and less than. So then at work, at home, or in our own thoughts, the pressure piles up as we ask ourselves: Am I enough? Am I doing enough?

Now the problem is, when we measure our worth by performance or approval, we get caught in an endless cycle of striving. Every win feels temporary, every misstep feels huge, and we rarely stop to simply be. That mindset quietly steals our joy, peace, and even our ability to see God’s fingerprints on our lives. It teaches us to chase love, acceptance, and purpose – instead of receiving what God has already given freely.

The good news is that God’s way is different as scripture reminds us that He chose us before we ever proved ourselves (Ephesians 1:4–5). Before our first success, before our first failure, before anyone had an opinion, scripture shows us that God chose us, created us in His image, and prepared our lives with purpose.

Being created in His image doesn’t just mean we exist; it means we carry His design, His fingerprints, His intentionality in everything about us. And as Ephesians 2:10 says, we are God’s handiwork, created for good works He prepared in advance – so, our lives are already full of meaning.

And when we decide to live from this truth, everything changes. We no longer have to scramble for validation or compare ourselves to others, we can simply be. We get to say: I am chosen. I am designed. I am enough. And because this identity is God-given, it never wavers, no matter what the world says.

So this week, let’s practice receiving that truth. Let’s remind ourselves that our worth isn’t conditional, our purpose isn’t hidden, and our identity isn’t negotiable. We are chosen, we are made by the living God, and that’s enough – more than enough – to start each day with confidence and gratitude.

📖 1 Scripture to Ground Our Spirit

“For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ.” – Ephesians 1:4–5

This verse reminds us that our identity and worth were established long before we could earn them. We are intentionally known, fully loved, and uniquely designed by God.

💬 1 Affirmation to Speak Life

“I am chosen and created in God’s image. My worth is secure, and my life has purpose.”

Repeat this throughout your day – in the morning, when doubt creeps in, or even in quiet moments between tasks. Let it remind you that God has already marked you as valuable and intentional.

❓1 Question to Reflect & Reset

I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below. Your perspective might just encourage someone else on their journey.

Which part of today’s lesson stood out to you the most – that you are chosen, made in God’s image, or created with purpose?”

Take a moment to reflect and as you think on it, ask yourself: How can I let that truth shape the way I see myself and live this week?

Remember, your worth isn’t something you earn because it’s already established by God.

Next week, we’ll continue our journey in this series with I Am Known and Fully Loved: Finding Security & Belonging When I Feel Unseen or Unlovable. I can’t wait to walk through it with you! And if you missed our last post on 12 Names of God: Discovering who He is, you can catch it here.
