GOD PROMISES WISDOM

You Can Seek Clarity Instead Of Staying Stuck In Confusion

Have you ever noticed how quickly life fills up with decisions? Some are small and simple, but others carry a lot more weight. In those moments, it’s easy to feel the pressure to get everything right and worry about choosing the wrong path. Many of us carry that pressure quietly, trying to sort it all out on our own. But Scripture gives us a comforting promise: we don’t have to navigate life alone because God offers wisdom to those who seek Him.

There are moments in life when we just don’t know what to do next, when we find ourselves going back and forth in your mind about a decision. One minute we think, “Yes, this is what I should do.” Then five minutes later we’re thinking, “Wait… maybe not.”

Most of us handle that kind of confusion the same way. We replay conversations, we Google things, we ask five different people for advice and, while those things can help, they still leave us with the same pressure: we feel like it’s all on us to figure it out.

But Scripture gives us a different perspective. In James 1:5, God makes a very clear promise: if we need wisdom, we can ask Him for it. Not only that, but He gives it generously. That means God isn’t reluctant to guide us or annoyed by our questions, He actually invites them.

And what’s interesting is that wisdom often shows up when we come to God with a humble heart – not with a plan we’re trying to get Him to approve, but with a simple prayer that says, “God, I want Your direction more than my own.” That kind of posture changes how we approach decisions where instead of trying to control the outcome, we begin to trust God’s guidance.

This is especially important because confusion can also grow when our trust is divided. You know, sometimes we want God’s wisdom, but we also want to hold tightly to our own control. We try to follow Him while still steering the direction ourselves and when we’re pulled in two directions, things start to feel foggy.

But when we begin to lean fully on God, we get clarity, not always all at once, but gradually, as we walk with Him step by step, decision by decision. Living from this promise means we pause before acting, we ask God for wisdom and then we take the next step we believe He’s showing us. And over time, our obedience sharpens our ability to recognize His voice.

So this week, let’s practice a simple habit: Ask Before Acting.

Before making a decision, big or small, pause for a moment and ask:
“God, please give me wisdom here. Show me the right next step.”

It might be about a conversation, a decision, your schedule, or something weighing on your mind. The goal isn’t a perfect answer right away. The goal is building the habit of inviting God into the decision first. Because when we start asking before acting, we begin to notice His guidance more and more.

Good evening Nikeba, I have read your post on God’s wisdom. It is true that we should ask God to help us with our natural and spiritual decision making for our life living. Whether we do it with prayer, life on life conversation or finding answers in God’s written word.

Yes, Dr. Perry, It is so true but something I find we tend to forget in this hustle culture. It's good to be reminded of God's promises and truth. Thank you for sharing.
