Have you ever felt the pressure to make this life work perfectly? Like if you could just fix the situation, reach the goal, heal the relationship, or finally get everything under control… then you’d finally feel at peace?

And maybe without even realizing it, you’ve been carrying the weight of this life like everything depends on getting it right here.

But the truth is, this world was never meant to carry the full weight of our hope.

This week, we’re holding onto the promise that while God deeply cares about our lives right now, He’s also preparing something far greater for us beyond this world. And when we truly remember that our forever is secure in Him, it changes the way we walk through today.

Let’s start here: God absolutely cares about your life right now. Your family, your work, your health, your dreams, the things keeping you up at night — none of that is small to Him. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that He has plans filled with hope and purpose for us, even when we can’t fully see them yet.

But I think sometimes we forget that God’s promises were always meant to point us to something even bigger.

In John 14, Jesus is talking to His disciples the night before He would go to the cross. They didn’t fully realize it yet, but their whole world was about to feel shaken as they were about to experience fear, grief and confusion.

But Jesus being Jesus, He doesn’t leave them in fear, He gives them hope 🥰.

He basically says, “I’m preparing a place for you, and I’m coming back for you.”

I just love that because He wasn’t denying that hard things were coming, He was reminding them, and reminding us today, that pain is never the end of the story with God.

You see, most of us are trying really hard to build a good life — and that’s not a bad thing. We care deeply about our families, our goals, our calling, and the life God has placed in front of us. But sometimes we end up carrying this quiet pressure that says, “If I can just get everything figured out here, then I’ll finally feel okay.”

But we know that life doesn’t always cooperate with our plans — some seasons last longer than we expected, things fall apart, doors close, prayers take longer than we hoped. And if all our hope is tied to this life going perfectly, we will end up exhausted and often disappointed.

But what Jesus reminds us in John 14 is this: yes, this life matters deeply… but it’s not the whole story.

There’s a forever being prepared for you that no disappointment can touch, no loss can ruin it and no hard season can take it away. Your future with Him is already secure — and it’s a perfect future.

And, I believe that when we really let that sink in, it changes the way we carry today. We can fully care about this life without putting the full weight of our hope on it. We can hold our dreams with open hands because our ultimate hope is already safe in Jesus and the future He is preparing for us.

That perspective brings so much peace.

So, this week, I want you to try the “Two Futures Check-In.”

Whenever something starts weighing on you — stress, disappointment, uncertainty, frustration — pause for a moment and ask yourself:

  1. God, what are You teaching me or growing in me through this right now?
  2. How does remembering my eternal future change the way I carry this today?

We’re learning how to hold both truths at the same time: God is with us here and now… and He’s already taken care of what comes next.
