Let’s learn about Jehovah Rapha. This post comes from our weekly newsletter – Monday Morning Reset – where we Get Rooted in Christ through our Core 4 – 1 Lesson, 1 Scripture, 1 Affirmation & 1 Question.
Let’s continue our series, “THE NAMES OF GOD: Discovering Who He Is.”
📑 1 Lesson to Shape Our Mindset
So this week, we’re sitting with the name Jehovah Rapha – “The Lord Who Heals.” It first shows up in Exodus 15:26, right after the Israelites have crossed the Red Sea. They’re exhausted, thirsty, and frustrated – honestly, kind of like how we feel some days – when God reveals Himself as the One who heals… not just bodies, but hearts, hope, and direction.
What I love about this name is that it isn’t just about physical miracles (though God absolutely does those). It’s bigger. Jehovah Rapha is the God who heals the parts of us we don’t always talk about – the anxious thoughts we wake up with, the emotional bruises we carry from old wounds, and the spiritual fatigue that sneaks in when life feels heavier than we expected.
And if we’re being honest, healing rarely looks the way we imagined. Sometimes it’s instant – a breakthrough, a shift, a relief. But more often, it’s a process… a quiet mending, a gentle restoring, a slow strengthening. Kind of like when we finally decide to stop pretending we’re fine and actually let God into the messy, tender places. When we say, “Okay, Lord… here’s the thing I’ve been trying to fix on my own.”
This week, maybe we can practice letting God heal us by starting small by noticing when we feel tight, overwhelmed, or discouraged, and pausing long enough to ask, “Lord, what part of me needs Your healing touch right now?” It’s not dramatic, it’s simple, honest, and surprisingly powerful. And as we give Him access, we’ll start to feel those quiet shifts as peace settles in, clarity returns and the weight lifts little by little.
So let’s walk into this week knowing we don’t have to carry everything alone because we have a God who sees the parts of us we hide and still whispers, “I can heal that.” And honestly, that’s enough to exhale today.
📖 1 Scripture to Ground Our Spirit
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3 NIV
This verse reminds us that God sees the hurt we sometimes hide. He moves gently toward the broken places and starts healing what we’ve carried alone. His care is personal, patient, and always closer than we think.
💬 1 Affirmation to Speak Life
“I open my heart to God’s healing. His restoration is at work in my body, mind, and soul.”
Repeat this anytime you feel overwhelmed, weary, or stuck. Let it remind you that healing is already happening, even if it’s happening quietly.
❓1 Question to Reflect & Reset
I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
“What part of my life needs God’s healing touch today?”
Take a few quiet minutes to sit with this question. Journal it out, pray through it, or just let your heart answer honestly. Healing begins with awareness.
As we step into this week, let’s remember that healing isn’t something we have to force or figure out. Jehovah Rapha meets us exactly where we are, tending to the places we didn’t even realize needed care. We don’t have to hold everything together, we just have to trust the One who knows how to make us whole.
Next week, we’ll meet Jehovah Nissi, The Lord Our Banner, and we’ll talk about what it means to live under God’s covering and victory, even in the battles we didn’t choose.
And if you missed our last post on the name Jehovah Jireh: The Lord Who Provides, you can catch it here.
